In short

ZH Converter turns your programming files into a finished assignment. To do that we keep your account, your cover page details and the assignments you download. We don't sell your data, show ads or use tracking or analytics tools.

What we collect

  • Your account: your username and email address. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google. Passwords are handled by Firebase Authentication; we never see them.
  • Your assignments: when you download an assignment on a paid plan, we save it to your history: the cover page details (university, campus, logo, name, registration number, section, subject, instructor and date), your code files, question statements, program input and outputs (program output as text, web pages as screenshots). On the Free plan your history stays in your browser instead, and isn't sent to us.
  • Your details for next time: your university, campus, logo, name, registration number, section and chosen styles, so your next cover page is filled in for you.
  • How much you've used: the number of assignments you've downloaded, which is how free assignments are counted.
  • Payments: when you tell us you've paid for a plan, the plan, the amount, the name on the bank account you paid from, when you paid and the transaction ID if you give it, so we can find your payment and switch your plan on.
  • Feedback: the messages you send us, with your username and email address.

We don't collect your location or contacts, and never your bank PIN, card details or wallet login.

How we use it

  • To run your code, take screenshots of its output and build your Word and PDF files.
  • To keep your history, so you can open and download past assignments again.
  • To fill in your next cover page and count your free assignments.
  • To check your payments, switch your plan on and tell you when we have.
  • To read your feedback and reply if needed.
  • To send account emails: confirming your email address and resetting your password.

Google sign-in

If you sign in with Google, we use only your name and email address, to create your account and show your name. We don't access anything else in your Google account (such as Gmail, Drive or contacts), and we don't sell or share this information.

Who else handles your data

  • Google Firebase stores your account and history (Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore). See Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Judge0 (judge0.com) runs your programs: your code and its input are sent there, and the output comes back. We don't send your name or email with it. Don't put passwords or other secrets in code you upload.
  • Netlify hosts this website. Like any web host, it may keep basic request logs (such as IP address and browser).
  • Web pages you upload (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) are opened and screenshotted inside your own browser, on a separate address that can't reach your account. They aren't sent to our servers.
  • Payments go from your own bank app straight to our account. We see only what our bank app shows us, such as the sender's name, the amount and the time.
  • Our notification server (on PythonAnywhere) is told when you send a payment, so our team gets an alert on their phone. It checks the payment is real and doesn't keep anything.

What stays on your device

Your browser keeps your login, a copy of your account data and history (so it opens quickly), your work in progress (so a refresh doesn't lose it), on the Free plan your history itself, and your light or dark theme choice. Signing out deletes all of these from that browser except the theme, in every open tab of the site; if the browser closes before that finishes, it finishes the next time the site is opened. So sign out on shared computers such as lab PCs.

How long we keep it, and deleting it

  • We keep your data for as long as you have an account.
  • You can delete any assignment from your history at any time, in the builder.
  • To delete your whole account and everything in it, email zhconverter@gmail.com from the address you signed up with, and we'll delete it.

Keeping it safe

Only you can read your account data and history: the database refuses everyone else. Everything travels over HTTPS, and pages you upload run in an isolated sandbox. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep yours protected.

Children

ZH Converter is meant for college and university students. If you're under 13, please don't create an account.
